Overview

Gold American Eagle Bullion Coins were released in 1986 after the Gold Bullion Act of 1985. These coins are authorized and guaranteed by the U.S. Government for their weight, gold content, and purity levels. Gold American Eagle coins come in four sizes One Ounce, Half Ounce, Quarter-Ounce, and One-Tenth Ounce, and with the denomination $50, $25, $10, and $5 respectively.

This Collector’s Edition four-coin set contains all four editions of the proof-finish Gold American Eagle coin. The box arrives with a certificate of authenticity from the U.S. Mint. Each coin rests in a plastic cap container. Collectors and investors extremely prize these proof-finish coins due to the high-quality craftsmanship that goes into the production of coins of this caliber. The shiny, mirror-like surface allows Liberty to stand out from the background and pop in an aesthetically pleasing way. The proof-finish also makes these coins a rarer item on the bullion market.

Each coin features the original Augustus Saint-Gaudens Lady Liberty walking forward with a lit torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left hand against a backdrop of the Capitol Building of the United States and a rising sun in the back. The images appear on the obverse side of the coin while the reverse features a majestic American Bald Eagle flying with an olive branch in its talons to his family in a nest.

Valuation

This is a premium coin, meaning the coin’s price includes a premium above the melt value of the precious metal it contains, which includes Augusta’s margin. This premium is solely determined and controlled by Augusta, based on factors Augusta deems valuable in determining and controlling such premium. Other retailers may not recognize the premium value that Augusta recognizes for this premium coin and may only be willing to pay as little as the melt value for this coin (the value of the precious metal that the coin contains). If you sell this coin to a retailer that does not recognize the premium value assessed by Augusta at the time of sale, then such sale may result in significant losses. Augusta cannot guarantee that it will buyback any item it sells and cannot guarantee another retailer will purchase this premium coin.
